7- Neuro physics of Electrical Brain Activities

In humans, EEG measurements, used to understand the functions of the brain which controls all living body functions as main part of central nervous system, is the sum of action potentials produced by billions of neurons. In neurological, psychological, physiological and psychiatric disorders; abnormalities of EEG series can be detected by using advanced signal processing tools depending on both type and severity of disease, and, quantitative visual biomarkers can be developed with respect to large variety of parameters such as local, global, spectral, spatial etc in time-frequency-phase domains. Development of robust biomarkers and integration of these markers in diagnostic applications would provide important contributions in healthcare for the major diseases such as OCD and epilepsy. The first stage of this composition is selection of the most useful signal processing method with respect to particular disorder closely depending on experimental paradigm, and then the second stage of this composition is determination of the best classifier into either two-class or multi-class problem. This multi-disciplinary framework will bridge between following sciences: Human Physiology, Brain Biophysics, Signal Processing and Information Technology.
